Not quite true. Given inconsistent premises, one can prove anything. The reason 2+2=5 leads to proving anything results from the fact that it is inconsistent with other mathematical premises, not just because it is false.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that infinity is not defined as a number, so normal arithmetic doesn't work on it. All my experience with infinity has been in the nature of "increases without bound."
